You may or may not have seen the “gameplay” trailer of Assassin’s Creed 2 yet, but I posted it today because I’m anxious to know your thoughts and to help drive home a point. The Duo has stressed over and over about how much music contributes to a trailer – and this is a perfect example. Gives the game a whole new feel – which is almost, well, GANGSTA! Reminds me of a GTA trailer!
It also reminds me of a vid we did a few months before this one – at least, in song choice…see if you can find it

This may be our next quick project – taking an older game that has a well established brand and using different shots and music to create an entirely different feel to it.
Oh and I remember I saw the movie “The Matador” with Pierce Brosnan on an airplane once – a hilarious comedy about an old hit-man who is trying to get back into the game. Then when it was coming out on DVD – saw an ad positioning it as an action packed thrill ride with bad-ass assassin Pierce Brosnan – filled with explosions! Whoever bought the DVD based on that ad must have done a big WTF.

The footage of the AC2 vid is awesome, though I really don’t like the choice of music in this case. Maybe just because the track is linked to Your vid in my mind. But if I think about it, the reason I loved the first AC , as repetitive it might be, is because of it’s feeling. Though the soundtrack in the trailer just blows it into bits an pieces. No question, I think it great if Developers try to create something new, going beyond the common expectations, but not in this case for me, with this game, and this music.
.. I’d actually like to try to mess around with the track myself, and see how long it takes me to get myself completely frustrated

That definitely is a GREAT example – the emotional music set to fast action and the anticipation of entering a battle – perfect! Makes people feel that it is more than just a video game…

That is what we are in the middle of finding a good song for our next “1 day 1 video” idea. We have a good game picked out for it. We aren’t going to try and do something crazy like take Resident Evil 5 and make it a happy fun kids game, yet take a game with an established “feel” and change it up a bit.
So we shall see how we do
